Over a few years, I’ve been learning piano and have been following standard written-sheet curriculum. Of course, it gets a little boring to play notes off pages over and over again. So after listening to numerous piano pieces, I decided to learn improvisation. At first I was stunned at how simple you can create a melody with an easy chord progression. Later however, I discovered that it’s much MUCH harder than it seems. Here’s one of my 3rd attempts at spicing up a piece of improvisation. I used a progression from A minor and D minor. (Trust me, I’m not sure if I’m even describing the piece correctly. I’m guessing really.) After recording it on piano in about 4 takes (breaking the piece up into about 4 parts), I ran it through Mixcraft to add synth strings, other instruments, and miscellaneous adjusting. Though I’m not particularly overjoyed by the result, I’m happy that I was able to get this piece through.41 plays
